Accessibility Statement for Academy Website
This accessibility statement applies to academy.worthit.org.uk.
This website is operated by Worth-it Positive Education CIC. Our goal is to ensure that everyone can use our website with ease. We have taken several steps to make sure our website is accessible, including:
Our Commitment to Accessibility
We are committed to ensuring that our website is inclusive and accessible to all users. To achieve this goal, we have implemented various measures to enhance accessibility, including:
- Allowing users to zoom in up to 300% without text spilling off the screen.
- Facilitating keyboard navigation throughout most areas of the website.
- Supporting speech recognition software for website navigation.
- Ensuring compatibility with screen readers such as JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver.
- Presenting website text in a clear and understandable manner.

Accessibility Improvements Implemented
Since our last review in April 2022, we have undertaken a contrast audit and implemented recommended changes where feasible. However, certain color combinations integral to our brand identity could not be altered without compromising our branding consistency. As a result, some content may not meet the minimum contrast requirements outlined in WCAG 2.1 AA. We recognize the importance of accessibility and acknowledge that this issue remains outstanding despite our efforts.
We have also undertaken efforts to enhance accessibility by adding alt text to images across the site. This improvement aims to provide users with visual impairments a more comprehensive understanding of the content presented through images, furthering our commitment to accessibility and inclusivity.
Additionally, while we have made strides in enhancing accessibility, certain limitations persist:
- We cannot modify the line height or spacing of the text, which may affect readability for some users.
- Some online forms may still pose challenges for keyboard navigation, particularly those utilizing third-party WordPress plugins.
- PDF documents may not be fully accessible to all screen reader software, though we strive to provide alternative formats upon request.
- Videos embedded from Vimeo may lack subtitles or closed captions (cc), and descriptive labeling from Vimeo itself might be insufficient.
- Some links lack discernible text, meaning visitors may not be able to tell where the link will take them.
- Navigation options lack a skip-to-main-content feature, potentially hindering users’ ability to quickly access desired information.
We acknowledge these shortcomings and are committed to addressing them in future updates, especially during website redevelopment initiatives.
Consideration for Zoom Accessibility
We understand the importance of accessibility in all facets of our operations, including live training and coaching conducted via the Zoom platform. To ensure inclusivity, we take the following measures:
- Providing transcripts for video content upon request to accommodate users with hearing impairments.
- Offering alternative formats for live training materials, such as accessible PDFs or large print versions, upon request.
If you require accommodations to participate fully in Zoom sessions, please contact us at info@worthit.org.uk to discuss your needs.
